The interest towards sustainability has increased significantly within the past few years. People are trying to make more responsible choices in all the aspects of their lives, which also includes their purchasing decisions. These decisions can be influenced by different factors and the recent positive trend towards sustainability has led the production of sustainable products and packaging to become a very important component with this regard.
Consumers are highly concerned about environmental issues, and they feel the need to reduce their environmental impact. One of the ways to do so is by reducing their waste and choose more sustainable packaging. That is why this study aims at analysing the use of eco-friendly packaging and package-free products as well as understanding how this influences consumers purchasing decisions. Do consumers know sustainable packaging and package-free products? Are they willing to abandon traditional packaging in favour of these alternatives? What would be their main concerns in the shift to eco-friendly packaging? What is the impact of these packaging on their purchasing decisions?
This research will attempt to answer all these questions based on the existing theoretical findings highlighted in the literature review and on a quantitative study conducted through the submission of a questionnaire to consumers. The data collected will allow us to provide valuable insights on the topic and address questions for future research.
