Introducing second-hand business models for supply chain sustainability
Elsa Muro (Auteur)
We are living in a world where over consumption and over complexified supply chain are considered as the norm and where the sake of people and the environment are considered second. The aim of this study is to point out those realities, explore their origin and why we need it to change. Then from there the goal is to show that alternatives to this way of production and consumption already exist and are more and more developed. To do so many research were made through already existing academic papers, they helped to explain the main topics of this essay: sustainable supply chain, sustainability, fast fashion and the business model of slow fashion and the second-hand. Then to illustrate those concepts, in the discussion part we used already existing practices, methods and business models from existing companies. From those and the literature review we could draw some recommendations such as the transformation of the supply chain into a reduced one, the implementation of circular economy and the adoption of business models such as the second hand. This essay aimed to have a closer look at the textile industry and to look for solutions to show the way to all those who want to combine textile, but also other industries, and sustainability.
