The impact of COVID-19 on international trade. “How will strategic management face international trade’s changes due to COVID-19?”
Andrea Gerra (Auteur)
International trade has drastically evolved over the years. This evolution could not have been possible without the parallel evolution and adaption of the strategic management of each country to new needs, complementing the panorama. Therefore, if we now live in a highly connected world, when an essential country in the supply chain is affected, the consequences are multiple. On one hand, the strong blow is due to the deterioration in world prices of products, on the other hand, the abrupt slowdown in China has affected supply chains, and caused a decrease in exports from producing economies.
The COVID-19 pandemic goes even far beyond that, as it is not totally similar to any past crisis because there are more impacts that will lead to various changes in international trade.
The general objective is to have a better understanding of which strategies will be chosen by the different developed and emerging countries to face this concern. The methodology of this end-of-studies dissertation used was focus on a systematic/structured literature. After summarizing, it is found that, both, developed and developing countries in most of the cases used the same strategies but the difference can be seen in the approach they use to implement them.
