The role culture plays towards corporate sustainability practices in supply chains

The purpose of this master thesis is to explore the role culture plays towards corporate sustainability in global supply chains and mitigation strategies to help international companies build a sustainable and resilient supply chain under the context of globalization. A 1 to 5 dyadic case study design was adopted with a French buyer and five of its Chinese suppliers. The database consists of 6 interviews and more than 50 documents.
Analysis and discussion of results, such as this French wholesale company’s corporate sustainability strategy, Chinese cultural characteristics, effective cultural barriers in China, related mitigation strategies and a brief summary of this French company learning from its Chinese suppliers, are explored in the findings. Finally, the thesis’ contributions to academic/managerial implications, acknowledge limitations and possible expansion were mentioned in the last part “Conclusion”.
